Leaders of the Central Powers

World War I was a devastating war that would determine who would rule the next century. Fought between the Triple Entente (France, Russia, and Britain) and the Central Powers (Germany and Austria-Hungary), the war would last for four years and end in a defeat for Germany and her allies. Harsh treaties and reparations would fuel resentment in the defeated countries and culminate in the rise of Adolf Hitler and World War II. However, the First World War had many opportunities for its tides to turn. This timeline will explore this question: What if there was a Central Victory?

Point of Divergence[edit | edit source]

The Entente negotiations with Italy fall apart, causing Italy to maintain neutrality. This will not force Austria-Hungary and Germany to fight against the Italians. More manpower is devoted in the Eastern and Western fronts, leading to more victories for Germany and Austria-Hungary. Romania, seeing the tide of the war, decides to ally with the Central Powers and seize Bessarabia from Russia. The Central Powers emerge victorious in 1917 and impose the harsh Treaty of Berlin on the defeated Entente.
